A multi-million-pound mixed-use regeneration scheme of the dock area in Shoreham-by-Sea to provide 225 residential apartments and commercial areas. Kingston Wharf will be transformed into a modern contemporary development with affordable housing, a new business centre, riverside walk, play area, cycling infrastructure and parking. SRE advised on energy and water efficiency measures across the whole site, including renewable energies, energy-efficient fabric, heating and cooling, water use, thermal comfort and building layout to maximize internal daylighting and national ventilation.

SRE were appointed at early design stage to ensure a BREEAM New Construction 2014 ‘Very Good’ rating was achieved to comply with Adur District Council planning policy. A Sustainability and Energy Statement, Microclimate Analysis, Internal Daylighting and Overheating Analysis were undertaken to ensure all relevant requirements for the development were met. SRE also carried out SAP and SBEM modelling to provide an Energy Strategy and the required energy efficiency measures and renewable technologies needed to achieve Building Regulations compliance.

"SRE have provided cost effective solutions and technical guidance to set Kingston Wharf on the right path in terms of sustainability. SRE have always been proactive when changes arise that require prompt assessment and quick turn-around time. Their work has been invaluable to all sustainable aspects of the scheme."
