Shinfield Studios

Shinfield Studios, a 65-acre site, has been dubbed as the ‘New Powerhouse of British Film, TV Production & Innovation’. Part of the ‘Cine Valley’ project, this new film and TV production hub in Berkshire will provide nearly 1 million sq ft of state-of-the-art sound stages, workshop and mill space and office and post-production facilities.

SRE has been appointed sustainability consultants on this project and our sustainability specialists are working alongside Bidwells and the project team to provide BREEAM and BREEAM AP support, Passive Design Analysis and Materials Life Cycle Analysis. SRE is ensuring that the best environmental practice is incorporated from the initial design stage through to completion.

Being within the Wokingham Air Quality Management Area (AQMA), and in support of BREEAM requirements and Wokingham Borough Council’s Air Quality requirements, we have produced both an Indoor Air Quality Plan and Air Quality Assessment. SRE analysed both construction-phase and operational impacts on air quality and advised on how to minimise any adverse impacts on internal and external air quality.

Passive Design Analysis was also undertaken to ensure that passive measures could be incorporated into the design of the proposed development. The analysis also confirmed the achievable credits under BREEAM New Construction 2018 Low Carbon Design. The report provided advice on the energy performance of the offices, workshop areas, and stages.
