Root’s Hall, Southend-on-Sea

Client:

Southend United FC

Main contractor:

tbc

Architect:

CZWG Architects

Roots Hall is Southend United’s football ground, and the proposed redevelopment of the site is to create 504 residential units over 6 blocks, commercial space and basement parking – as well as the relocation of the club’s stadium to a new ground at Fossett’s Farm. SRE has undertaken a range of studies and dynamic modelling in support of the planning application and Environmental Statement. This includes Daylight, Sunlight and Overshadowing Reports and Microclimate Analysis along with Dynamic Modelling and the completion of the Sustainability & Energy Statement and Internal Daylighting Calculations. Through completion of this work SRE has been able to confirm that the scheme’s height and mass will achieve acceptable pedestrian comfort levels, excellent internal daylighting and have negligible impact on the existing neighbouring buildings.

"SRE were introduced to the club in 2018 to help promote what is by anyone’s interpretation a complex but nevertheless exciting project. I have found them to be professional, timely, courteous throughout and they have remained within budget. I will have no hesitation either using their services again or recommending them to others."
