Client:

Worldwise UK Ltd

Main contractor:

MEP Studio

Architect:

IBI Group

The rebuilding of the Macmillan Caring Locally Care Centre will provide a purpose-built 2-storey 20-bed facility including a day centre and an external garden area as part of the wider redevelopment and extension at the Christchurch Hospital site.

SRE has provided dynamic modelling of the proposed hospice design to inform both the M&E strategy and specification, thermal comfort (TM52) levels and SBEM energy performance (Part L2) of the new Macmillan Hospice.

By providing a coherent and integrated assessment of the early design and M&E specification, SRE has been able to ensure the requirements of the different standards for energy and overheating have all been exceeded for present and future climate change scenarios.

"The Macmillan building was complex to model and a challenge to achieve SBEM compliance on without any “green bling”. The SRE team worked closely with us and the architects through multiple iterations and fine-tuning alterations to achieve compliance. It was nearly the same as having the experts in our own office. Their expertise with the software coupled with our experience of what is realistically viable for the building fabric and M&E systems complimented each other well."
