Early Design Stage Analysis
Sustainability is now an essential element of all developments and research and experience has shown that it is not something that can be easily ‘added on’. Defining sustainability and energy objectives from the outset reduces the risk of increased design and construction costs.
Through early design stage analysis, SRE supports clients in creating a sustainable development, as well as complying with planning policy. SRE can advise on multiple aspects of a development, such as how to maximise massing whilst minimizing external impacts on neighbouring buildings; the inclusion of passive design measures or alterations in orientation or glazing to reduce heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) equipment size and cost. Internal daylighting and thermal comfort are also of key consideration during this stage.
Several further detailed studies can be developed for a scheme out of this initial analysis, including daylight studies, thermal modelling and façade optimization.
